Troy Michael Goode

Troy meets Lego Chewbacca.

Originally from an hour or so south of DC in Stafford/Fredericksburg, VA, Troy spent time living in West Virginia and Alabama before finally coming back to the DC area in 2000. He has worked in the software development industry for 10 years and is an avid follower of new technology.

After many years of working as both an independent consultant and for a few small consulting firms (primarily Diamax Information Systems), last year Troy accepted an in-house position at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). Like Alex, Troy's office is located a mere five minute walk from their apartment. In fact, Alex works in the building next door to Troy, which is owned by NRECA!

When he isn't at work or spending time with Alex, Troy can usually be found parked on the couch playing video games. For five months of the year Sunday is football day (go Saints!); Troy and his friends spend the day watching the games and competing against each other's fantasy football teams. Thanks to a lovely gift from Alex, Troy is finally certified to sail in the area and is eagerly looking forward to next year's boat season.

Troy may be reached via telephone at 703-254-4502 (mobile), 571-312-2928 (home), or 703-907-5752 (work). He may also be reached via email at tgoode@squaredroot.com (personal) or troy.goode@nreca.org (work). Please, however, send all wedding related emails to wedding@alexandtroy.com.

How We Met

Alex and Troy at Troy's birthday dinner.

In late 2005, Alex began a freelance project for a client that lived near her that she was introduced to by an old high school friend. Alex and that client, Jillian Bevard (now Jillian Gardner), quickly became inseperable and refer to themselves as "the bubbies."

Alex and Troy went to a monster truck rally and dressed appropriately. Yes, really.

At the same time Jillian had begun dating Brett Gardner, a friend Troy had just recently been reintroduced to. Coincedently this group of friends all lived in the Ballston area.

One night the guys and girls both decided to have a separate "guys night" and "girls night" out. Fate, it would seem, had different intentions and both groups managed to pick the same place to go out to, unbeknownst to the other group. So it was that on a cold night in January that Troy met Alex at the Clarendon Ballroom.

They saw each other in social settings a few times after that before Troy finally succeeded in tricking asking Alex out on a date to Le Geulois Cafe. Troy must've done something right because he had the luck to take Alex out again the next week for Valentine's Day to Taverna Cretekou. A year and a half later Taverna Cretekou would become the site of a very important dinner — the dinner where Troy asked Alex to marry him. That, however, is a different story altogether. =)
